Joey Smith, a life-long resident of Walnut Grove, GA, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 3 at the age of 61. Joey was born to the late James Edward Smith and Edna Smith on January 11, 1957 in Covington, GA. Joey is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Tina Smith; Son & Daughter-in-law: Shane and Becky Smith of Loganville; Grandchildren: Kayla and Brantley Smith of Loganville; Siblings: Carol & Emory Rozier of Loganville; James & Bonita Smith of Loganville; Peggy Smith Holcomb & Lee Holcomb of Panama City, FL; Jerry & Phyllis Smith of Covington; Burt & Elaine Smith of Flovilla; Numerous Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Joey was a devoted outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mostly though, he was known for the great love and devotion he had for his family. His grandchildren being a constant source of happiness for him. He kept himself busy a great deal of time working on his property or helping others with theirs. He was also a problem-solver who took on projects improving his household for himself and Tina to enjoy. Never meeting a stranger, Joey could strike up a conversation with almost anyone he crossed paths with, making the other person a better person for having known him. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held at 5 PM on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in the Loganville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Minister Don Hardison will officiate.
