Preston M. (Press) Breedlove, age 86, of Monroe died on February 9, 2019, after an extended illness. He was born in Monroe on September 23, 1932, to the late Thomas Richard Breedlove and the late Mattie Fleeta Estes Breedlove. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, the late Jacquelyn Ash Breedlove.
Press was a lifelong resident of Walton County. He operated the family farm, Breedlove Dairy, just north of Monroe for many years. In 1970, he was awarded the prestigious Master Farm Family Award by Progressive Farmer Magazine. After retiring from farming, he became a highly-respected home builder. Press was also a longtime Director of NBWC (Synovus) and a founder and director of George Walton Academy. He was a Korean War Era Army Veteran and member of the Monroe VFW Post #4421.
He is survived by Sons and Daughter-In-Law Bruce Breedlove of Monroe, Luke and Nanci Breedlove of Denver; Grandson Ashton Breedlove of Denver; Wife Paula Queen Byrd of Monroe; Daughter LuAnne Byrd Stone of Athens; Son Don Byrd of Monroe; Grandchildren Hollis Rae Stone, Perry Jake Stone, James Taylor Byrd, and Makenna Byrd.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 13th at the Monroe First Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Todd Ware officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery. Please sign the guestbook online at www.meadowsfuneralhome.com
