Tip came to Georgia in 1959 met Ruth Epperson McConnell and married January 2, 1960. Tip retired from Hercules in Covington after 33 years. He served his Monroe community in many different capacities. He coached and umpired little league baseball. He also officiated high school sports. He served as city councilman for 8 years. He was a deacon and active member of Faith Baptist Church for many years. He served on the Apalachee Association as a member and financial director. He was an avid Georgia Tech fan. Pepa loved and supported his grandsons in all areas of their lives especially when they participated in sports whether playing or coaching. He always wanted to be where his family was. When Madelyn Rae was born she was the apple of his eye. Pepa was so proud to tell everybody he met that William, his great grandson, was named after him. Tip loved to laugh, joke, but mostly he loved talking about how The Lord had blessed his family.
