Petsense and Planet Fitness added to list of Monroe Pavilion tenants

Petsense works with local rescues to re-home shelter cats

MAB American Management, LLC (MAB) has announced two more companies that have signed leases for the new retail center under construction in Monroe. Petsense and Planet Fitness have signed leases to open locations at Monroe Pavilion. The new center under construction off Charlotte Rowell Blvd. in Monroe will feature a 350,000 square feet retail center located on 100 acres along US 78 between GA highway 138 and GA Highway 11.

“Since announcing Publix as the anchor-tenant at Monroe Pavilion in the fall of 2019, we have worked to add retail, dining and lifestyle tenants that create a quality retail destination for our neighbors,” John Argo, President of MAB American Management, LLC said in a press release. “With the addition of Petsense and Planet Fitness, Monroe Pavilion broadens its offerings to better everyday life, and pending deals portend further expansion of the center very soon.”

Argo said Petsense has signed a lease for 6,000 square feet of retail space. The pet specialty retailer offers quality pet supply products at competitive prices as well as professional pet services such as grooming and training. Petsense also partners with local rescues and shelters to re-home thousands of cats in its in-store SavAPet centers.

Planet Fitness, which provides health and wellness opportunities for its members 24/7 “with high-quality, brand-name cardio and strength and exercise equipment,” is leasing 16,120 square feet of fitness center space. The active lifestyle is complete with fitness training and a Judgement Free Zone® where staff seeks to provide a comfortable, safe and energetic environment for its members.

Petsense and Planet Fitness join other companies that have already signed with Monroe Pavilion including Publix, Ross, Marshalls, ULTA, Rack Room and Five Below. 

Upon completion Monroe Pavilion will be a 350,000- square-foot development, with an estimated investment of more than $80 million and 1,000 total employees.

Monroe Pavilion is in one of the Georgia Opportunity Zones that were created under the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The opportunity zones were created as a way to encourage economic investment in these areas making them eligible for preferential tax treatment. These new Federal Opportunity Zones are intended to facilitate investment in areas where poverty rates are greater than 20 percent.

“Monroe Pavilion is one of the few large retail projects being constructed in the state of Georgia and is located in a designated opportunity zone,” said Beau Young, executive vice president of Retail Specialists. “The response from retailers has been phenomenal as they too recognize the Walton County market offers great potential for their brands by congregating at the major retail venue in the county.”

Retail Specialists is negotiating all leases for the development and currently has several outlots available. Ideal tenants include restaurants and service-based retailers.
