Police seek information on armed robbery at Auto Zone in Monroe

The Monroe Police Department is seeking information on an armed robbery that took place at the Auto Zone in Monroe on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

According to Monroe Public Safety Director Keith Glass, at 9.28 p.m. that night, a black male wearing black pants, black hoodie and black sun glasses entered the Auto Zone at 1003 East Spring St.,  pointed a pistol at the clerk and demanded cash. The suspect then removed an undetermined amount of cash from the drawer before leaving in a metallic blue newer model sedan. No tag number available. The vehicle was parked on the east side of the store and headed eastbound on Highway 78.

This description of the suspect and modus operandi is similar to an armed robbery that took place at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in Monroe in March as well as in Lawrenceville in December.

Glass said MPD Detectives are working several leads at this time. If you have information about this crime you are asked to contact Det. Powell at dpowell@monroega.gov or 770-267-7576 or 678-858-0094.
