Move makes for some exciting new prospects for downtown Monroe

The sign outside the building on Highway 11 across from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office still has the old sign that reads “Angel Food Ministries World Headquarters,” but that won’t be for long. It is now Rinse Bath & Body Co. world headquarters – well national headquarters anyway. The business has again outgrown its current location, despite having expanded to a warehouse as well as the larger downtown Monroe store, and owner Heather Swanepoel said it was becoming obvious that something had to give.

“Rinse seems to be like a goldfish – we grow to the size of our bowl. We’ve consistently outgrown the spaces we’ve been in every 18 months. We absolutely love our storefront but we had to split our operations between the store and our warehouse space on North Lumpkin which was not ideal but was doable. Once we saw what was coming on the horizon for Rinse, we knew we needed to streamline our operations and have additional space,” she said. “Low and behold, as we were going through the process of purchasing and occupying our new space, two boutique grocery chains and several subscription box companies began placing orders. These orders confirmed that we made the right decision.”
So since the beginning of this month, Rinse has been moving its production and warehouse out of the two downtown Monroe locations into the new facility at 1620 S. Broad Street, Monroe.

“The new location will greatly help us streamline our operations. We can consolidate two production areas and have the majority of our team under one roof (office, production, wholesale fulfillment and warehousing). Even more important, it will allow us to grow. We have desk space ready when we need it and a little extra storage / production space to grow into,” Swanepoel said. “This space will also make it much easier for us to facilitate the large orders we already receive and has the room for us to be able to continue to grow the business with other new exciting accounts that come our way.
So how will it change how the Rinse retail store operates in downtown Monroe?
“The biggest change for our team will be that they will have to find a new way to get their steps in each day since they won’t have to walk 200 yards back and forth between the shop and the warehouse any longer,” Swanepoel says. “We are unbelievably excited about what this move means for our retail store. We already have and will continue to expand the size of the store. We are filling the new-found space with all sorts of amazing gifts just in time for the holidays. We have a DIY section that includes kits to make your own craft beer, wine, beeswax cloth wraps, embroidery and cross-stitch. We have added jewelry, accessories, hair ties, reusable straws, notepads, trinket trays and enamel pins just to name a few things. Our men’s department has gotten bigger with the addition of razors, brushes and combs for beards.”

Swanepoel says what she is most excited about is what is going to happen in the back of the store where most of the production took place before the move. She teased some of the things to come.
“We will begin production of a new product line in the back and finally have space to do some exciting things between the retail area and the production area. More to come on that after the holidays,” she said. “We love being a part of downtown Monroe and while breathing new life into some of its older buildings can be tricky at times, the rewards far outweigh the challenges.”
So, what’s going to happen to the old warehouse space in downtown Monroe. Swanepoel has a tease about that too.
“As for our warehouse space on North Lumpkin (next to Southern Brewing), I can’t say what’s coming into it yet but what I can say is Monroe is going to love it,” she said.
