Silver Queen takes top billing in Walton County’s inaugural Battle of the Burgers

Burger connoisseurs had their fill and made their choice Saturday, voting the burger by Silver Queen winner in the first annual Walton County Battle of the Burgers. Legitimate Beef was the sound, and the taste, of the day as the band played the background music to the sold-out crowd of gourmets going from booth to booth tasting a variety of specially prepared burgers.

Participating this year for the No. 1 spot were Amici Monroe, Cheely’s General Store & Cafe’, The Cotton Cafe, LR Burger, R.J’s Soulfood&More, Silver Queen, South on Broad, Kitchen & Bar & Your Pie. Second place went to LR Burger and Amici Monroe and RJ’s Soulfood and More tied for third. Everybody had their favorite and, according to organizers, there was very little difference between them – and there’s always next year. A certain number of tickets were sold, and those ran out before the voting was done. Maybe next year there will be more participants and more tickets for those wanting to get in on the gourmet event.
