The late Judge Horace Johnson, Jr.

A list of six potential nominees will be interviewed by the Judicial Nominating Commission for the State of Georgia to be put on a short list for the vacancy on the Alcovy Judicial Circuit Superior Court. The vacancy was created by the passing on July 1 of the the Honorable Horace J. Johnson.

Vincent R. Russo with Robbins  Ross  Alloy  Belinfante  Littlefield LLC said that the list has been narrowed to six, Anthony S. Carter, Cheveda D. McCamy, Teri L. Doepke, Lori B. Duff, Hillary W. Edgar and W. Cliff Howard.

Lori Duff

“We are interviewing the six applicants in next few weeks. We do the short list after the interviews,” Russo said. The short list will then be forwarded to Gov. Brian Kemp who will make the appointment.

Loganville Municipal Court Judge and local attorney Lori Duff has made a superior court appointee list for a second time this year. Former Alcovy Circuit Court District Attorney Layla Zon was appointed by Kemp in May to replace retiring Superior Court Judge Samuel Osburn. Zon was chosen after she and Duff had made the final cut.

Chevada McCamy

Also on this list this time is Henry County Chief Assistant District Attorney Cheveda McCamy who ran for the seat on the bench to be vacated by Alcovy Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Eugene Benton at the end of the Year. Monroe attorney Jeff Foster won that seat in a runoff election on Aug. 11.
