Walton County Parks & Recreation Department begins the season after COVID-19 Delay

After being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Walton County Parks & Recreation Baseball and Softball Opening Day will begin on Monday, June 1, 2020, at all three parks in Walton County. Games will begin at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with time in between games for cleaning and other precautionary measures. Participants range between the ages of 5 – 18.

“We are excited to move forward with Opening Day of our baseball and softball season. After taking the necessary precautions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we are ready to offer families the opportunity to cheer on their favorite player while creating cherished memories for years to come,” said Jody Johnson, Walton County recreation director. It will be a great day for fun and baseball.

Officials said this decision came after careful planning from the Parks & Recreation Department with approval from the Governor’s Office. Amid COVID-19, parents and participants, as well as spectators, will have to adhere to guidelines that will serve to keep everyone safe while in the parks.
