Stone Mountain Park headline sponsor for Loganville Groovin on the Green summer concert series

First concert features Tobi Lee w/ Mustang Sally on June 19

(May 28, 2020) LOGANVILLE, Ga. – The eighth season of the City of Loganville’s summer concert series welcomes its first headline sponsor: Stone Mountain Park. While the first concert had to be re-scheduled, the Groovin’ on the Green concert series will kick off June 19 as Tobi Lee with Mustang Sally take over the Town Green beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“Stone Mountain Park is pleased to support the 2020 Groovin’ on the Green concerts and looks forward to a safe and entertaining summer series,” said Bill Stephens, CEO of the Stone Mountain Memorial Association, a State of Georgia Authority charged with managing the state-owned park. “Georgians are eager to get outdoors and mingle safely with friends and family. This concert series provides just that opportunity.”

Several other local sponsors contribute to the Groovin on the Green summer concert series, which usually takes place the third Friday of each month from May through to September. The Swingin’ Medallions were scheduled to kick off the concert series for the second year in a row but the show was re-scheduled for July 31.

Other concert dates include Band X on July 17, the Jimmy Buffet tribute band A1A on Aug. 21, and Electric Avenue: The 80s MTV Experience, rounds out the series on Sept. 18.

“Normally, the concert series is part of a busy slate of events in May for us. But we canceled all of the events for May and kept our fingers crossed we would be able to have some events in June,” said Kristy Daniel, events and marketing director for the City of Loganville. “As state guidelines lessened and people emerged from the sheltered life created by COVID-19, we felt doing the concert series would be an opportunity for us to help ease back into whatever will be a normal way of life moving forward.”

Officials will be asking those who come to the outdoor concerts to respect any health and social distancing guidelines that may remain in place. Beer and wine are permitted at the Town Green and food vendors will be on site. Those interested in attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
