BETHLEHEM- If you’re traveling on State Route 316 (SR 316) in Barrow County, you may want to make sure you’re passed the the stretch between Carl Bethlehem and SR 81 before 9 a.m. That stretch of SR 316 will see single lane closures from then until 3 p.m. during week days, starting this week and continuing though August 2.
A westbound lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday. This will allow construction crews to install temporary concrete barrier wall, which will protect traffic as construction activities for the new interchange get closer to the current roadway.
This interchange project was awarded to CMES, Inc. last August and has a schedule completion date of October 31, 2020. It’s project length is 2.24 miles and includes widening and construction of a bridge and approaches. The construction contract amount is $26 million
