Two days left to early vote in Alcovy Circuit Superior Court Judgeship runoff

If you have not yet early voted in the runoff between Covington attorney Robert Stansfield and Monroe attorney Jeffrey Foster, you have until Friday, Aug. 7 to do so. Failing that, you can vote on the official runoff election date of Aug. 11, 2020.

The winner will replace Alcovy Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Eugene Benton when he retires at the end of the year. The Alcovy Judicial Circuit covers both Walton and Newton counties.

Early voting has been moved from the Walton County Government Building to the Nowell Recreation Center located at 201 W. Spring St. in Monroe. The Nowell Recreation Center is beside the library. There also is early voting at Meridian Park at 101 Generation Blvd in Loganville.

Neither Foster or Stansfield managed to get 50 percent of the vote in the June election, forcing a runoff this month. With a total in both counties of 17,243 votes, Foster garnered 37.32% of the vote, with 14,740 votes, Stanfield took 31.90% and just 517 votes behind him, with 14,223 votes McCamy got 30.78% and was knocked out of the runoff.
