Update: 2-year-old dies after an accident involving a mail truck

Georgia State Patrol reports confirm that a 2-year-old died on Saturday morning after being run over by a mail truck. According to the report, the mail carrier was delivering mail to homes on Sunny Hill Drive south of Loganville when she was flagged down by one of the residents after she had passed his home and was heading back. He was expecting a registered mail delivery and was asking about it. It is reported that neither he nor the mail carrier saw the 2-year-old child follow him outside and past the front of the mail truck to speak to the driver. He left by passing the rear of the truck and the driver pulled forward, striking the child who was in the roadway directly in front of the vehicle. Friends and family removed the child from the road but he was pronounced deceased at the scene by the coroner.

Walton County Fire Rescue is reporting that a young child was killed on Saturday morning in a pedestrian accident on Sunny Hill Drive south of Loganville off Ga. Highway 20. Crews were dispatched at about 11:21 a.m. on March 21, 2020, according to WCFR Assistant Chief Craig League.

Georgia State Patrol and Walton County Sheriff’s Office are working this incident. No other information is available at this time.
