Update: 20-year-old Grayson man charged in shooting of UGA student

Update

Zarren Rasool Hamilton Garner, 20, of Grayson has been arrested in connection with yesterday’s shooting of a 22-year-old UGA student. He is currently being held without bond charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of armed robbery and criminal attempt to commit a felony, according to Athens-Clarke County jail records.

Armed Robbery and Shooting on South Milledge Avenue

Athens-Clarke County Police Department is seeking the public’s helping in identifying the suspect in the shooting this morning of a 22-year old man near the University of Georgia. According to a press release on its Facebook page, police were called to a shooting at about 7:17 am on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 2165 South Milledge Avenue. While officers were en route, ACCPD received another call related to an armed robbery close to the same location. When officers arrived, they found the victim of the shooting and began first aid. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim is reportedly a UGA student.

The suspect is described as a black male with dreads or twists driving a white, early 2000 model Ford Mustang convertible with a tan convertible roof.
