UPDATE: 316 Interchange at SR 81 overpass bridge opening to traffic postponed

 Update:

BETHLEHEM, Ga., – Georgia DOT construction partners will not be shifting traffic onto the State Route 81 overpass bridge at State Route 316 until sometime in mid-September.

Construction partners  with Georgia DOT need to refine the bridge’s driving surface and complete the necessary safety components on the new bridge and the eastbound ramps. 

Please slow down while traveling through the work zone. 

This $27 million project constructs a full diamond urban interchange providing access to and from SR 316 to the cross road SR 81. It was awarded to CMES, Inc. in July 2017. 

 BETHLEHEM, Ga., – On Thursday, Georgia DOT construction partners will shift traffic back over to the original State Route 316 travel lanes just underneath the new State Route 81 overpass bridge. 

Traffic was shifted over by two feet to allow construction to the interchange’s ramps.  

Please slow down while traveling through the work zone. 

This $27 million project constructs a full diamond urban interchange providing access to and from SR 316 to the cross road SR 81. It was awarded to CMES, Inc. in July 2017 and is currently scheduled to open the overpass bridge to traffic on August 24, 2020.
