Update: Collision in Monroe sends two people to the hospital

Update

Georgia State Patrol reported that a collision between a 2013 Ford Explorer driven by a Monroe woman and an 1989 Lincoln Town Car driver by a 73-year-old man resulted in both drivers being extracted from the vehicles. Both Amanda Spain, 36, and Leonard Holder, 73, were transported to Piedmont Athens. The accident happened just after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020.

Cpl. Cal Barton with GSP said Spain will be charged with failing to stop at the stop sign.

Initial Story

Walton County Fire Rescue and Monroe Fire are on the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash at Michael Etchison Road and McDaniel Street intersection.

“(There are) two entrapments. The Roadway is shutdown. Lots of emergency vehicles on scene,” said WCFR Assistant Chief Craig League.

League said an air ambulance was originally called but cancelled and the two patients were transported via ambulance.

Georgia State Patrol is working the incident.
