The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reports that the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI are investigating the death of a Loganville area man that happened on Saturday, April 13, 2019.

“Gregory Ryan Puckett, 19, was found deceased at his home and had died from apparent stab wounds. An autopsy will be conducted later this week at the GBI Crime Lab to determine the cause and manner of Puckett’s death,” GBI director of Public Affairs Nelly Miles said in a press release.

The investigation is still ongoing and no further information is available for release at this time.

Initial Story

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in over the weekend to assist in an investigation of what officials have said was a suspicious death at a home on Sharon Church Road in the Loganville area of Walton County. Witnesses reported a lot of police activity all day Saturday around a home near Cedar Lakes Trail that was surrounded by crime scene tape.

“The GBI is conducting a suspicious death investigation. Their PIO will have to give you what they want released,” Walton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Scott Whisnant said. GBI spokesperson Nelly Miles said the agency is assisting but believed that information to be released would likely come from WCSO. She said she would confirm Monday which agency would release any information.

On its Facebook page, the WCSO confirmed that one person had died and that the GBI was called in “out of an abundance of caution.” It assured the public, however, that there was no danger to the community.
