Update: Loganville man, 38, victim in Gwinnett shooting; Suspect, 18, in custody

Gwinnett County Police report that the victim has been identified as James Ross, 38, of Loganville. The suspect, Joshua Brandt, 18, of Gainesville has been arrested. He was taken into custody without incident at about 10 a.m. on Aug. 8, 2020.

“The Gwinnett County Police Department, along with assistance from the Suwanee Police Department, developed information pertaining to the suspect’s identity,” GCPD said in an updated press release. “In the course of their investigation, Homicide detectives obtained probable cause for the issuance of Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault warrants on Brandt.” (Editor’s Note: An arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction)

Update

Gwinnett County Police Department confirm that this time the one gunshot victim has died from their injuries. The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time pending notification to next of kin. While one other person inside the business at the time was transported to the hospital with a minor, non-gunshot injury, no other people inside the business were fired upon. It appears at this time that the sole deceased victim appears to have been the focus of the shooting.

Update:

(Suwanee, GA) On Friday, August 7, around 2:30 PM Gwinnett County Police received multiple reports regarding an active shooter situation at a business in the 600 block of Satellite Blvd. Although the business was occupied by multiple employees at the time of the shooting, only one victim was located. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.

According to eyewitnesses, the shooter was reported to be a tall, thin male of unknown race, covered completely in a long, white garment with a white head and face covering. The suspect fled prior to police arrival and is still at large.

Update

Gwinnett County Police Department reports that on further investigation this appears to be an isolated incident with one victim at the scene. The suspect is still at large. GCPD is actively searching for a suspect. He is approximately 6ft tall, believed to be male of unknown race, wearing a long loose pink shirt, and a white balaclava style face covering.

Initial report

Gwinnett County is investigating a significant shooting incident near Satellite Blvd and McGinnis Ferry Road.  The roadway is closed.  Avoid the area as there is possibly an active shooter in the area.
