Update: Man who shot his ex-girlfriend when dropping off diapers arrested

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office reported that its Fugitive Unit, K9 Unit, and Field Operations deputies tracked down and arrested Venezia Cole in DeKalb County late last night. He was eventually booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.

Snellville, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating an Atlanta man who is in on the run after allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend while dropping off diapers at her Snellville home.

GCPD reports that the officers assigned to the South Precinct were dispatched to a “person shot” call on Laurel Bend Court in unincorporated Snellville at around 3:30 pm on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Officers arrived to find a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

A family member reported that the woman’s ex-boyfriend allegedly shot his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend in the driveway of the home when he was supposed to be dropping off diapers. The couple’s 1-year old child was outside with them at the time. He is accused of shooting multiple rounds at the home after shooting the woman. No family members were hit.

The motivation for the incident is still under investigation. The suspect was identified as Venezia O. Cole, 26, of Atlanta. He was seen fleeing the area in a black 2009 Infiniti G37 with temporary tag number P0945250. Cole is charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault                                                 3 counts
  • Aggravated Battery                                                  1 count
  • Cruelty to Children 1st Degree                                1 count
  • Possession of a Firearm during a Felony             5 counts
  • Criminal Damage to Property 2nd Degree             1 count
