Significant Weather Advisory for High Fire Danger

..HIGH FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED FOR MUCH OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY EVENING DUE TO LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES… RELATIVE HUMIDITIES OF 12 TO 22 PERCENT CAN BE EXPECTED FOR ABOUT 4 TO 9 HOURS ACROSS THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING. MOST WINDS WILL BE WEST TO NORTHWEST 5 TO 10 MPH WITH SOME GUSTS POSSIBLE LESS THAN 20 MPH. IT IS UNSURE JUST HOW DRY ALL THE FUELS GOT YESTERDAY BUT WANTED TO ERROR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION THAT HIGH FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED. Pollen Alert

The High Pollen Alert continues until Sunday.

Update 3/5/2019

Another freeze warning has been added for the local area, beginning tonight, March 5, 2019. The freeze warning goes into effect at 6 p.m. and will extend until 5/6/2019. The other alerts remained in place at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. However, no precipitation was recorded in the hour-by-hour. The Pollen Alert also remains in place for the rest of the week. According to Weather.com, the temperatures are expected to rebound to a high of 71 by Sunday when the next round of storms also are expected.

Initial story

The National Weather Service at Peachtree City has issued three alerts for the local area, including Walton, Gwinnett and surrounding counties. There is a Freeze Warning, a Significant Weather Advisory for a slight possibility of a wintery mix, and a Pollen Alert. These alerts are for tomorrow, Tuesday, March 5, 2019.

Although the Significant Weather Advisory does include Walton and Gwinnett County, the area does appear to have a very outside chance of being included in any precipitation. The hour-by-hour, although cold, does predict sun for most of the day. The low tonight is expected to get down to 22 degrees and the highs tomorrow are not expected to get out of the 40s.

..POTENTIAL FOR A LIGHT WINTRY MIX OVERNIGHT… AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME LIGHT PRECIPITATION TO AREAS OF CENTRAL GEORGIA OVERNIGHT. A LIGHT MIX OF RAIN, FLURRIES AND SLEET ARE POSSIBLE MAINLY BETWEEN THE SOUTHERN SUBURBS OF ATLANTA TO MACON, INCLUDING COLUMBUS AND LAGRANGE. SINCE THE AIRMASS IS VERY DRY AND THE GROUND IS WARM, NO ACCUMULATION OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED.

There is a high pollen alert for tree pollen for the local area every day this week. It drops to low again on Sunday.
