Initial Story

(Duluth, Georgia) Gwinnett Police need the public’s help in identifying a vehicle that fled from a hit-and-run collision that later led to a fatality collision. According to a press release from GCPD, on Aug. 27, Munsha Shekhani, 23, of Lawrenceville, was stopped on Steve Reynolds Boulevard near Interstate 85 when she was rear-ended by a white, older model SUV or pickup truck. That vehicle then fled the scene with Shekhani following after it. The fleeing vehicle traveled west on Steve Reynolds Boulevard and turned left onto Venture Drive, allegedly narrowly avoiding another collision.  Shekhani continued to pursue and attempted to turn left onto Venture Drive, but in doing so she turned in front of a box truck. She was seriously injured in the resultant collision and later died as a result of the injuries she sustained. The fleeing vehicle continued on without reporting it to the police or returning to the scene. Notification has been made to Shekhani’s family.
