Update: Walker Drive house fire ruled arson; $10,000 Reward offered for information

Update:
Monroe Fire Chief Bill Owens confirmed that the house fire at 330 Walker Drive on Tuesday afternoon has been ruled arson. A $10,000 reward is being offered by the Georgia Fire Investigators with the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office for information about the fire. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fire Investigations Unit at 1‐800‐282‐5804.

The fire reportedly started in the rear bedroom closet. Nobody was home at the time crews were dispatched.
Initial Story
Batallion Chief Jack Armstrong with Monroe Fire Department reported that MFD and Walton County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire at 330 Walker Drive at about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019.
“Units on scene extinguished what is described as a ‘room and contents’ fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal,” Armstrong said.
No occupants were at home at the time fire crews were dispatched.
