The Walton Adapted Sports Program (WASP ) will have a new home beginning this spring. The program will begin playing softball at Criswell Park on April 13, 2019.
“WASP has been serving our community members with special needs since 2010. We have teams for players starting at 3-years old through adulthood. Criswell Park will give our players with physical challenges easier access to the fields,” said Shannon Schussler of WASP. “Registration for play is due March 25, 2019.”
Additional information and online registration can be found at https://waspsports.blogspot.com/2019/02/wasp-is-moving-to-criswell-park.html. The registration fee is $25, which includes a shirt and trophy. The registration form can be found online at the WASP Facebook page.  Send payment and the registration form to WASP, in care of Shannon Schussler, 1325 Highlands Blvd., Monroe, GA 30656. Checks need to be made payable to the Walton Adapted Sports Program.
The games will be from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturdays between April 13 and May 11. All players get an opportunity to bat and run the bases and will receive a trophy at the end of the season.
Adaptive softball is a league for persons with disabilities ages 3 and above. Schussler said the WASP program is grateful to Walton County Parks & Rec for their continued support. For more information or to volunteer you can contact: waspball@gmail.com or call Schussler at 404-907-0782.
