Walton and surrounding counties to get upgrade to rumble strips on local road

GAINESVILLE, Ga., – Four projects were awarded to the Northeast Region in May totaling $4.7 million, including upgrades to rumble strips across Barrow, Clarke, Dawson, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson and Walton counties. This is the second largest project awarded in the Northeast Regional in May 2019 and came in at $1.1 million. It was awarded to Peek Pavement Marking, LLC.  The project has a completion date of June 2020.

The largest project awarded totaled $2.3 million and was awarded to Pittman Construction Company to resurface State Route 105 from north of State Route 385 to south of State Route 17. The project will extend for about nine miles and has an estimated completion date of April, 2020.

The third largest project also totaled $1.1 million and was awarded to S&D Industrial Painting and Southern Concrete Construction Co., LLC to rehabilitate of two bridges in Habersham County: the US 23/State Route 365 bridge over Wilbanks Road and the US 23/State Route 365 bridge over the Tallulah River. The project is expected to be complete sometime in February 2020.

The final project totals $314,365.50 and was awarded to Southern States Pavement Markings, LLC to upgrade pavement markings along I-85 from north of State Route 53 to the Banks County line. This project is about 19 miles and is expected to be complete in April 2020.
