Walton County Chamber to host virtual political forum Tuesday, May 12

Walton County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a virtual Political Candidate Forum via Zoom for the candidates with primary opposition on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at 4 p m. For this forum, only the candidates, moderator, timekeeper and local press will be included on the Zoom call. The forum will be recorded and then the link will be posted on chamber social media pages and groups and sent out to the chamber membership.

The Political Candidate Forum will include candidates with primary opposition in the following races:

Judge of Superior Court, Alcovy Judicial Circuit (To replace Judge Eugene Benton)

  • Jeffrey L. Foster – Non Partisan
  • Cheveda McCamy – Non Partisan
  • Robert H. Stansfield – Non Partisan

Walton County Sheriff

  • Joe Chapman (i) (R) – Monroe
  • Mike Sledge (R) – Monroe

District Attorney, Alcovy Judicial Circuit

  • Randy McGinley (R)
  • Layla Zon (i) (R)
  • Destiny Bryant (D)

Each candidate will have three (3) minutes for an introduction. Following introductions, we will ask each candidate two questions. Candidates will have one (1) minute to answer each question.  Once the questions are completed, the Candidates will then have the opportunity to give a two (2) minute closing statement.

The forum will be moderated by the Walton Chamber Governmental Affairs Chair, Melissa Shannahan, Shannahan Law Firm, LLC.

Walton County Chamber of Commerce staff member Teri Smiley, President and Kerie Rowe, Membership & Events Chair will serve as our timekeepers.
