(Monroe, Ga.) — The Walton County School District scored higher than 71 percent of school districts across the state on the Georgia Department of Education’s newly redesigned 2018 College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI). The district received an overall score of 75.8.
“We are very proud of our schools and the growth we are seeing across various content areas and subgroups,” said Superintendent Nathan Franklin. “These types of metrics help guide our efforts to ensure that all students succeed here in the Walton County School District. Walton County is blessed to have exceptional teachers and administrators who devote their time and energy to providing a top-notch education for our students.”
As part of the 2018 CCRPI results, all Walton County schools received a 3 or higher School Climate Star Rating with nine schools receiving 5-star ratings, achieving the highest state ranking for positive school culture. “School climate” refers to the quality and character of school life. Positive school climates that are conducive to open communication and trust foster safe learning environments, youth development, and student learning, which are essential elements for academic success, career-skill improvement and overall quality of life.
The CCRPI was re-calculated this year; thus, comparisons between the 2018 CCRPI and any other year are not possible or valid. Weights for components and indicators within the five overall CCRPI areas have changed, along with the number of indicators within each component area. The component areas are content mastery, progress, closing gaps, readiness, and graduation rate.
