WCSO Alerts: 2 arrested following vehicle chase and wreck in Walton County Wednesday

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported the following Crime Awareness Community Alerts for the period Monday to Wednesday, Feb. 24 – 26, 2020. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Monday, Feb. 24, 2020

ZONE 1

Theft- Deputies took a report at a residence on Rivermist Drive in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual took the complainant’s mail from their mailbox sometime between6:00 pm February 23rd and 12:15 pm February 24th.

ZONE 2

Burglary- Deputies responded to a business on Leroy Anderson Road in reference to complainant reporting unknown individual(s) were inside the business when the complainant arrived around 10:00 am. Deputies observed forced entry into the business, but nothing appeared to be missing at the time of the report. Deputies thoroughly checked the area, but had no contact with anyone. Extra patrol requested in reference to the incident.

ZONE 6

Burglary- Deputies took a report at a residence on McCullers Road in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual took two cell phones from the residence sometime through the night. Phones placed on National Database as stolen.

Citation- One individual was cited in the area of Highway 20 and Ivory Road for Possession of Marijuana Less than 1 Ounce following a traffic stop.

Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020

ZONE 3

Arrest- A 45-year-old Monroe man was arrested in the area of Highway 83 for an outstanding Probation Violation warrant out of Walton County following a vehicle accident with reported injuries. Georgia State Patrol worked the scene of the accident.

Arrest- A 59-year-old Monroe man was arrested at Cowpens gas station for Driving Under the Influence and Driving While License Suspended following a traffic stop.

ZONE 5

Stolen/Lost Item- Deputies took a report at a residence on Highland Way in reference to complainant reporting the complainant’s vehicle tag was lost/stolen sometime between 8 am February 21st and 5 pm February 22nd. Tag was placed on the National Database.

Arrest- A 47-year-old Snellville man was arrested in the area of Highway 81 and Bullock Bridge Road for Failure to Maintain Lane and Driving Under the Influence following a suspicious vehicle call.

Arrest- A 26-year-old Lawrenceville man was arrested in the area of Highway 78 and Cedar Ridge Road for Driving Under the Influence following a traffic stop.

ZONE 6

Arrest- A 38-year-old Lithonia man was arrested in the area of Highway 20 and Miller Bottom Road for an outstanding warrant out of Franklin County following a traffic stop.

Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020

ZONE 1

Firearms Complainant- Deputies responded to the area of Woodchase Drive in Woodchase Subdivision in reference to several complainants of someone shooting a firearm numerous times around 6:15 pm. Deputies talked with several residents who reported having observed unknown individuals in a gray in color pick up truck stop and fire several shots in the cul-de-sac in the area. Deputies located several shell casings and thoroughly checked the area, but didn’t have contact with anyone. Walton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division investigating the incident.

Arrest- A 27-year-old Covington man was arrested in the area of Walnut Avenue and Leone Avenue for Driving While License Suspended following a traffic stop.

Arrest- A 19-year-old Oxford man was arrested in the area of Leone Avenue and Habersham Circle for Driving While License Suspended and Driving Without Insurance following a traffic stop.

ZONE 4

Agency Assist- Walton County Deputies assisted Georgia State Patrol in the area of Mount Vernon Road and Old Athens Highway in reference to a single-vehicle accident in the area of Mount Vernon Road and Old Athens Highway with non-life threatening injuries following a vehicle chase. Two individuals involved, Sharicka Slaton (27, Monroe) and Juanya Peek (21, Monroe), both have numerous warrants out of different agencies.

Sharicka Slaton outstanding warrants out of Oconee County and the City of Monroe.

Juanya Peek outstanding warrants out of Barrow County and outstanding warrants out of Walton County for Probation Violation, Theft by Shoplifting, and Obstruction.

– Possible additional warrants to be taken on both individuals by the Georgia State Patrol.

ZONE 5

Citation- Two individuals were cited at a residence on Richmond Place for Disorderly Conduct following a dispute.

ZONE 6

Arrest- A subject was arrested in the area of Rosebud Road for and an outstanding warrant out of Dekalb County following a traffic stop.

Stolen Vehicle- Deputies responded to a business on Highway 20 in reference to an unknown individual taking a red in color Ford Mustang from the business sometime around 4:40 pm. Vehicle was located in Dekalb County. Walton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division investigating the incident.

ZONE 7

Arrest- A 36-year-old Sugar Hill resident was arrested in the area of Walnut Avenue and Leone Avenue for Driving While License Suspended and an outstanding Failure to Appear warrant out Walton County following a traffic stop.
