WCSO Alerts: Entering autos and criminal trespass​ at rock quarry ongoing problems

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported the following Crime Awareness Community Alerts for the period Tuesday, July 7 to Monday, July 13, 2020. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Tuesday, July 7, 2020

ZONE 3

Theft- Deputies took a report at a residence on Marion Ivie Road in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual took several items from outside the complainant’s residence sometime between July 1st and July 7th. Extra patrol requested in reference to the incident. 

ZONE 6

Entering Auto- Deputies took a report at a residence on Rockview Lane in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual entered two of the complainants unlocked vehicles and took several items sometime between 9:00 pm July 6th and 9:00 pm July 7th.

ZONE 3

Trespassing- Deputies responded to a residence on Highway 83 in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual was attempting to take items from outside the complainant’s residence and fled on foot when they were acknowledged by the complainant. Deputies thoroughly checked the area but had no contact. 

Thursday, July 9, 2020

ZONE 3

Stolen Vehicle- Deputies took a report at a residence on Pannell Road in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual took the complainants black in color Chevrolet Traverse sometime between 9 am and 10:40 am. Complainant reported the vehicle was unlocked and the keys were left inside. Vehicle was placed on the National Database as stolen and there was a lookout given for the vehicle to all surrounding counties. Walton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division investigating the incident.

ZONE 3

Extra Patrol- Extra patrol was requested in the area of Blasingame Road in reference to an ongoing issue with speeding vehicles in the area.

Entering Auto- Deputies took a report at a residence on Hester Town Road in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual entered the complainants unlocked vehicle sometime between 8 pm July 9th and 11:20 am July 10th.

Recovered Vehicle- Deputies responded to the area of Magnolia Lane in reference to a report of a suspicious vehicle on location. Deputy’s identified and unoccupied black in color Chevy Traverse that was reported stolen out of Walton County. The vehicle was taken into custody and turned over to the registered owner.

Arrest/Firearms Complaint- Deputies responded to the area of Old Monroe Madison Highway in reference to a complaint of an unknown individual(s) discharging a firearm from a vehicle in the area. Deputies made contact with the vehicle whose occupants were shooting a firearm at multiple road signs in the area. As deputies went to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle there was a brief pursuit that ended in a two-vehicle accident with no life-threatening injuries. A 26-year-old Oxford resident and a 23-year-old Monroe resident were arrested.

  • The Oxford resident was arrested for Reckless Conduct, Discharging a Firearm on the Highway, Criminal Trespass and an outstanding warrant out of Madison Police Department.
  • The Monroe resident was arrested for Reckless Conduct, Discharging a Firearm on the Highway, Criminal Trespass, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Running Stop Sign, Driving While License Suspended, and an outstanding Probation Violation warrant out of Walton County.

Firearms Complaint- Deputies responded to the area of Evergreen Drive in reference to a complaint of an unknown individual possibly shooting a firearm in the area around 12 am. Deputies thoroughly checked the area but had no contact with anyone shooting a firearm.

ZONE 5

Theft- Deputies took a report at a residence on Stock Gap Road in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual took several items from a building outside the complainant’s residence sometime overnight. Walton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division investigating the incident.

ZONE 7

Extra Patrol- Extra patrol was requested in the area of River Falls View and Stewart Road in reference to an ongoing issue with speeding vehicles in the area. 

Sunday, July 12, 2020

ZONE 1

Theft- Deputies took a report at the Maverick Express Gas Station in the area of Highway 138 in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual taking numerous lottery tickets from the business and cashed them in at a different location.

ZONE 3

Arrest- A 38-year-old Monroe man was arrested in the area of Highway 78 and Michael Road for Possession of Heroin following a traffic stop.

ZONE 4

Agency Assist- Deputies assisted Barrow County Sheriff’s Office in the area of Old Athens Highway and James Huff Road in reference to a vehicle pursuit with a 35-year-old Monroe man led the chase into Walton County where deputies assisted with his arrest.

ZONE 5

Damage to Property- Deputies took reports at six residences on Troy Smith Road in reference to an unknown individual damaging the resident’s mailboxes.

ZONE 6

Trespassing- Deputies responded to Rock Quarry in the area of Anslee Lakes Subdivision in reference to eight subjects trespassing at the Rock Quarry around 7 pm. All individuals were issued Criminal Trespass warnings. 

Monday, July 13, 2020

ZONE 2

Trespassing- Deputies took a report at a residence on Arnold Dairy Farm Road in reference to complainant reporting an unknown male and female were seen at the residence around 9 pm. Complainant reported they saw the individuals through a camera the complainant has on location. Complainant reported the individuals caused damage at the complainant’s residence.

ZONE 3

Identity Theft- Deputies took a report at a residence on Dogwood Trail in reference to complainant reporting they received a letter in the mail requesting personal information to complete applications that had been accepted for unemployment. The complainant reported they never applied for unemployment.

ZONE 4

Arrest- A 33-year-old Auburn man was arrested in the area of Mountain Creek Church Road and Smokerise Drive for Driving While License Suspended, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (Sawed Off Shotgun), and Forgery/Altering Serial Number following a traffic stop.

ZONE 5

Burglary Attempt- Deputies took a report at a residence on Wedgewood Drive in reference to complainant reporting when they went to get their exterior doors rekeyed the locksmith located a broken lockpick stuck in the complainant’s door lock. Complainant reported no entry was made into the residence and nothing appeared to be missing.

ZONE 6

Trespassing- Deputies responded to Rock Quarry in the area of Anslee Lakes Subdivision in reference to four subjects trespassing at the Rock Quarry around 4 pm. All individuals were issued Criminal Trespass citations or Juvenile Complaints.
