WCSO Alerts: Fraudulent phone calls result in residents being scammed out of funds

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported the following Crime Awareness Community Alerts for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 13 – 14, 2018. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

ZONE 3

Damage to Property- Deputies took a report in the area of Unisia Drive in reference to complainant reporting an unknown motorist in a black Ford Mustang driving recklessly causing complainant to run of the road and damage their vehicle tires.

ZONE 4

Arrest- Gary Flint was arrested in the area of Highway 11 and Alton Green Road for Driving While License Suspended and Driving Under the Influence following a traffic stop.

ZONE 5

Scam- Deputies took a report at a residence on Eagles Nest Court in reference to complainant reporting they were contacted by an unknown individual via telephone in reference to complainant owing back taxes and advised complainant to get Target gift cards to pay it off.

ZONE 6

Harassment- Deputies took a report at a residence on Karlee Boulevard in reference to complainant reporting they received text messages on Monday, March 12 around 9:00pm from an unknown individual who stated they were at complainant’s residence looking through their window. Deputies advised complainant to block the unknown number and call 911 if there was any other contact.

Arrest- Brian Sauver was arrested in the area of Highway 78 in reference to a Theft by Taking warrant out of Snellville Police Department following a suspicious persons report.

Fraud- Deputies took a report at a residence on Sandy Creek Court in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual contacted them via telephone claiming to be with Georgia’s Own Credit Union advising complainant there was fraudulent activity on their account and the caller needed to confirm the complainant’s bank information. The complainant reported they were then contacted by another unknown caller claiming the complainant had to pay a fee or they would be arrested. Complainant reported they checked their bank account and there had been several purchases made using their information.

ZONE 7

Arrest- Willie Webber was arrested in the area of Highway 81 and Youth Jersey Road for Driving Under the Influence following a traffic stop.

Wednesday, March 14, 2018

ZONE 1

Extra Patrol- Extra patrol was requested in the area of Willows at Creekside Subdivision in reference to an ongoing issue with speeding vehicles in the area throughout the day.

Extra Patrol- Extra patrol was requested in the area of Willow Cove Court in reference to an ongoing issue with light in color Ford Mustang driving recklessly in the subdivision throughout the daytime hours.

ZONE 2

Suspicious Vehicle- Deputies responded to the area of P J East Road and Monroe Jersey Road in reference to complainant reporting an unknown motorist in a gray SUV following them home. Deputies thoroughly checked the area, but had no contact.

ZONE 5

Theft- Deputies took a report at a residence on Acorn Way in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual taking items from the complainants residence around 9:00pm.

ZONE 7

Fraud- Deputies took a report at a residence on Planters Place in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual contacted them via telephone claiming to be with Premium Techie Support Service and advising the complainants computer had a virus and they needed to remote in to fix the problem. The complainant reported they paid them money and the company was not real.
