At the Oct. TRIAD meeting in Loganville on Oct. 5, Capt. Ty Vance with Walton County Sheriff’s Office urged the attendees to please pass on to anyone who would listen to lock their car doors and not to leave any valuables in the car.

“You would not believe how many people we have who car hop,” Vance said, referring to the number of entering auto complaints regarding items stolen from vehicles left unlocked. “They check the door to see if it is unlocked. It’s amazing how many people leave firearms and computers and anything else in their vehicles. Unfortunately, we can’t do that anymore. Luckily we’ve made a lot of arrests on the entering autos, but there will always be a new group.”

And that appears to be the case because just a couple of days later, on Oct. 8, the WCSO Crime Awareness report contained a slew of entering autos again. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported the following Crime Awareness and Community Alerts for the period Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, to Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.
