WCSO Alerts: Residents uneasy about cable network employees soliciting in neighborhoods

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported the following Community Alerts for the period Friday, Jan. 12 to Monday, Jan. 15, 2018.

Jan. 12, 2018

EXTRA PATROL

Extra patrol was requested in the area of Parker Drive and Green Acres Subdivision in reference to several unknown individuals walking up and down the roadway throughout the day time and late night time hours.

ZONE 3

Damage to Property- Deputies took a report at a residence on Gene Bell Road in reference to homeowner reporting an unknown motorist in a blue SUV damaging their mailbox around 3:00pm. Deputies thoroughly checked the area, but had no contact.

Theft- Deputies took a report at a residence on Wood Chase Drive in reference to homeowner reporting an unknown individual taking a package out of their mailbox between 10:30am and 8pm. Reported to be an ongoing issue with residences in the area.

ZONE 4

Hit and Run Accident- Deputies took a report in the area of Old Athens Highway and Mountain Creek Church Road in reference to a motorist reporting their side vehicle mirror to have been struck by an unknown motorist in a white box truck that fled the scene. Deputies thoroughly checked the area, but had no contact.

ZONE 5

Arrest- Joseph Edwards was arrested in the area of Bold Springs Road in reference to an outstanding Probation Violation warrant out of Walton County, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Possession of Contraband Across Guard Lines following a traffic stop.

ZONE 6

Suspicious Person- Deputies responded to the area of Broadnax Mill Road in reference to several complainants of unknown individuals going door to door claiming to be selling cable packages with DISH Network, but reported to not have the proper identification around 2:15pm. Deputies made contact with the individuals and advised them to obtain a permit before they could continue their solicitation.

Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018

ZONE 1

Arrest- Davis Sears was arrested at a residence on Adams Way for an outstanding Probation Violation warrant out of Walton County.

ZONE 2

Arrest- Chad Eaton was arrested at a residence on Hawkins Academy Road for Criminal Trespass and Simple Battery following a dispute.

ZONE 4

Arrest- Hollie Turner was arrested at a residence in the area of John Stowe Road for an outstanding Probation Violation warrant, Obstruction of an Officer, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Possession of Contraband Across Guard Lines.

Arrest- Kristen Weatherby was arrested in the area of Mount Vernon Road and Ike Stone Road for an outstanding warrant out of Gwinnett County following a traffic stop.

ZONE 5

Speeding Vehicle- Deputies responded to the area of Mystic Drive in Mystic Woods Subdivision in reference to an unknown motorist in a dark blue Chevy Camaro speeding and driving recklessly through the subdivision around 10:00am. Deputies thoroughly checked the area, but had no contact.

Arrest/Vehicle Accident- Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident in the area of Highway 81 and Bentley Road. No injuries reported. One motorist, Sara Green, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Open Container, and Running a Stop Sign. Walton County Sheriff’s Office worked the scene of the accident.

Entering Auto- Deputies took a report at a residence on Providence Club Drive in Providence Club Subdivision in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual taking a firearm out of their vehicle. Complainant reported it was unknown when or where the firearm was taken. Firearm was placed on the national database as stolen.

Suspicious Vehicle- Deputies responded to the area of Wood Hill Drive in reference to a complaint of two dark in color pick-up trucks possibly drag racing in the area around 10:45pm. Deputies thoroughly checked the area, but no contact.

ZONE 6

Burglary- Deputies took a report at a residence on Tom Brewer Road in reference to homeowner reporting an unknown individual taking a firearm and tablet from the residence sometime between December 28 and January 13. It was reported that there was no signs of forced entry.

ZONE 7

Arrest- Kacie Bly was arrested at a residence on Nunnally Trace for Disorderly Conduct following a dispute.
Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018

EXTRA PARTROL

Extra patrol was requested in the area of Lower Jersey Road in reference to an unknown motorist in a green in color Hummer off roading in the area.

CITY OF MONROE

Arrest- Wilber Williams was arrested at a residence on Meadow Walk Drive by Monroe Police Department for an outstanding Burglary warrant out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

ZONE 1

Harassment- Deputies took a report at a residence on Nunnally Farm Road in reference to complainant reporting on ongoing issue with unknown individuals throwing rocks at their residence from around 2:30am until around 6:30am. Deputies thoroughly checked the area around the residence, but had no contact.

ZONE 6

Suspicious Activity- Deputies responded to the area of Winding Grove Lane in reference to a complaint of an unknown tent in the woods. Deputies located the tent, but no one was on location. Deputies attempted to make contact with the land owners, but were unsuccessful. Deputies also thoroughly checked the area, but had no contact with anyone.

Arrest- Julien Vaughn was arrested at a residence Windermere Drive for an outstanding Failure to Appear warrant out of Walton County.

Arrest- Terriontae Robinson was arrested in the area of Highway 78 and Cown Road for Obstruction of an Officer, Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce, Giving False Name to Officer, Littering, outstanding warrants out of Fulton County, outstanding warrants out of Dekalb County, 13 counts of Entering Auto out of Gwinnett County, outstanding warrants out of Henry County, and outstanding warrants out of Forsyth County following a traffic stop where suspect fled on foot and was located by Walton County Sheriff’s Office canine units in the area of Windridge Subdivision.

Monday, Jan. 15, 2018

ZONE 1

Arrest- James Kemp was arrested at a business in the area of Highway 138 for an outstanding Probation Violation warrant out of Walton County and outstanding warrant out of Gwinnett County following a dispute.

 ZONE 2

Arrest- Jerome Mobley was arrested at a residence on Knox Chapel Road for Reckless Conduct, Cruelty to Children (x2), Terroristic Threats, Obstruction of an Officer, and Fleeing to Elude following a dispute.

ZONE 4

Arrest- Nolan McCauley was arrested in the area of Old Athens Highway and Mountain Creek Church Road for an outstanding Probation Violation warrant out of Walton County following a traffic stop.

Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Michael Road and Ike Stone Road. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria:  valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance. No arrest in reference to this safety check. No arrest or citations issued in reference to this Safety Check.

Arrest- Randy Cain and Lillie Cain were arrested in the area of Shoal Creek Road and Partain Road following a traffic stop.

  • Randy Cain was arrested for a Window Tint Violation, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and No Proof of Insurance.
  • Lillie Cain was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Related Objects.

ZONE 6

Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Gum Creek Church Road and Buck Smith Road. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria:  valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance. No arrest in reference to this safety check. No arrest or citations issued in reference to this Safety Check.

Scam- Deputies took a report at a residence on Tom Brewer Road in reference to complainant reporting an unknown individual contacting them via telephone in reference to an unknown package that needed to be picked up at an airport in New York.

ZONE 7

Suspicious Person- Deputies responded to the area of Vista Way in reference to several complainants of unknown individuals going door to door claiming to be with DISH Network selling cable packages, but reported to not have the proper identification around 5:50pm. Deputies made contact with the individuals and advised them to obtain a permit before they could continue their solicitation.

Shoplifting- Deputies took a report at the Dollar General on Walnut Avenue in reference to a complaint of an unknown female taking several items from the business without paying.
