We got a brief reprieve Sunday but the poor air quality returns Monday. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for Walton, Gwinnett and surrounding counties for Monday, Aug. 19, 2019. Although temperatures are only expected to reach into the low 90s, it is expected to feel like 98 by mid-afternoon Monday. And except for the possibility of thundershowers Monday afternoon. We can expect the heat to continue the rest of the week, although maybe not quite as bad as the past week.
UNDER CODE ORANGE CONDITIONS, THE OUTDOOR AIR QUALITY IS LIKELY TO BE UNHEALTHY FOR SOME PEOPLE. CHILDREN, PEOPLE WHO ARE SENSITIVE TO OZONE, AND PEOPLE WITH HEART OR LUNG DISEASE SHOULD LIMIT PROLONGED OUTDOOR EXERTION DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON OR EARLY EVENING WHEN OZONE CONCENTRATIONS ARE HIGHEST.
