The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Flash Flood Watch for north and central Georgia through Saturday morning. Additional rounds of heavy rainfall are likely with rainfall through Friday night that could range from 2 to 4 inches with isolated amounts up to 8 inches, some of it in a short space of time. With heavy rain that has already fallen in the last two days, the NWS warns that it won’t take much to cause significant flooding, Creeks and rivers will rise, possibly closing roads and impacting homes, businesses and farms. Some roads could be closed for extended periods and high water is likely to remain until the rain has ended.
A Flash Flood Watch means conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation. You should monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
