The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Freeze Warning for several counties in North East Georgia, including parts of Gwinnett County and surrounding counties from 11 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2019. Walton County is not in the freeze warning zone, however, temperatures are expected to get down to 35 degrees by 6 a.m. Friday morning in Walton County and with the wind factor it is expected to feel like 29 degrees.

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures in the lower 30s expected, with temperatures falling as low as the upper-20s in the higher elevations. * WHERE...North Georgia and portions of west central Georgia...mainly along and north of a LaGrange to Peachtree City to Gainesville line. * WHEN...From 11 PM this evening to 10 AM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
