The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of a high fire danger this afternoon, April 1, 2019, and into the evening for much of north and central Georgia, including Walton, Gwinnett and surrounding counties.
.RELATIVE HUMIDITIES OF 25 PERCENT OR LESS CAN BE EXPECTED FOR 4 OR MORE HOURS THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING. WINDS WILL BE FROM THE EAST AT 5 TO 12 MPH WITH GUSTS AS HIGH AS 15 TO 20 MPH, ESPECIALLY IN CENTRAL GEORGIA. WITH DRY FUELS, HIGH FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED.
Anyone wishing to burn is urged to refer to your local burn permitting authorities concerning whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn, you are urged to use extreme caution.
