The National Weather Service at Peachtree City has issued a Special Weather Statement for the local area due to the potential for a brief wintry mix overnight. The local area is noted as “mainly along and north of I-20.” Walton County is included in the alert.
According to the NWS, “light precipitation is expected to overspread much of central and north Georgia after midnight tonight,” Dec. 26, 2017. This is expected to be mainly in the form of a cold rain late tonight. However, sleet could mix in with the rain. No ice or sleet accumulations are expected as temperatures are expected to remain above freezing. According to Weather.com, the temperature for the local area is expected to go down to 34 degrees.
Weather.com also is calling for the potential for snow in the local area on several different occasions during the first week of 2018, including on New Year’s Day when the high is predicted to be 33 and the low 17.
