At 11:45 a.m. the National Weather Service placed Walton County on a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Stay tuned for possible warnings as the afternoon progresses. Neighboring Morgan County as well as Greene County are included in this Watch.

The National Weather Service at Peachtree City has issued a significant weather advisory for Walton, Gwinnett and surrounding counties until 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018.
At 822 AM a line of strong thunderstorms was along a line extending from Apple Valley to Chamblee…and moving southeast at 20 mph. HAZARD…Up to 40 mph wind…pea sized hail and frequent cloud to ground lightning. IMPACT…Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of light…unsecured objects. Some locations in the path of these storms include Gainesville, Lawrenceville, Canton, Conyers, Winder, Monroe, Covington, Jefferson, Commerce, Cumming, Watkinsville, Athens, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Dunwoody, Milton, Duluth and Woodstock.
