ART MD healing art kits

Thanks to Gratuity Paper Co. and Animal Care Hospital at Bold Springs and SB Paisley, an Estate Sale Company our ART MD healing art boxes are almost ready to launch!

These boxes will be made available for free to various agencies to provide to children in traumatic situations. We actually have agencies waiting for these! Studies have shown that the sooner you can get art materials in someone’s hands after trauma the faster they heal and it even wards off PTSD. How cool is that?

These boxes will provide comfort to hundreds of our kids in tough situations and in times of loss.

Contents: crayons, a stuffed animal, a hand-painted angel by our artists and our original Art MD Activity Book by Donna Coffman. Other supplies will be provided as funds allow: Play Dough and puppy & kitten stickers.

You can help …

  • funds are needed to pay for the supplies and boxes …
  • business sponsors (name will be printed in subsequent printings of the box and the book) …
  • artists are needed to paint the angels for each box.  Supplies are available now or you can bring your own, or paint at home.  Come on Thursdays from 11:30 – 2:30 and paint during Monroe Makers.  We will schedule more angel painting parties soon!
  • anyone can help to fill and deliver the boxes!

Want to help?  Stay tuned for more painting parties and box assembly parties or Email us!

Standing room only at open mic night!!

Thanks to Lori Brudner Duff for serving as the emcee for our first LIVE AT THE BOOK NOOK and regaling the audience with her stand-up comedy.  Many thanks, too, to our other authors who shared their humorous and touching stories: Jennie Campbell, Marlene Buchanan; and poet Jessica Hudgins. Adding to the evening was wonderful guitar music by Marin Duff.

Last but certainly not least, kudus to Barbara Barth who pulled the whole thing together.

Look for our next open mic night in September. We plan to make this a monthly event – probably on the second Saturday. Thanks to all who came and joined in the fun!
