Teresa Tomlinson, former mayor of Columbus, Ga., will be in Walton County on Monday, May 13, 2019, to address the Walton County Democratic Party. She will be the guest speaker at the meeting that will take place at 7 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 623 Maple St., Monroe. Tomlinson has announced that she will be challenging U.S. Senator David Perdue for his seat in the U.S. Senate in 2020.

“We’re really excited about Barrow County Dems and Oconee County Dems for joining us for this meeting,” said Norman Garrett, chairman of the Walton County Democratic Party.
Tomlinson has just completed her second term as mayor of Columbus after being sworn in on Jan. 3, 2011 as the city’s first female mayor. She is an attorney with the law firm of Hall, Booth, Smith, P.C. specializing in complex litigation.
Perdue, a former CEO of Reebok athletic brand and Dollar General stores, was elected to the US Senate in 2014. Prior to his election, Perdue had never served in public office.
Garrett is hoping for a full house on Monday to hear from Tomlinson.
