Walton County Fire Rescue reports that Highway 78 eastbound lanes are back open after a 3-vehicle accident temporarily shut them down for Walton County EMS to treat the victims. Batallion Chief Craig League said crews responded to the accident on Highway 78 near Mt. Vernon Road at about 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 18, 2018.
“Walton County EMS transported two patients to Piedmont Athens Regional with serious injuries. The eastbound lanes were shut down and traffic detoured for a short period of time, while the patients were being treated,” League said.
By 9:15 p.m., League said the lanes were back open. The accident is under investigation by Georgia State Patrol.
