Back to School event provides hot dogs along with book bags and school supplies

As students prepare to head back to school, sometimes getting those required school supplies can put financial pressure on families. Walton EMC Employee Charities and Barrelle Roofing are teaming up in a Back to School event Friday to help get school supplies to local children.

From 4 – 6 p.m. on July 19, at Felker Park in Monroe, there will be a giveaway of about 2,000 bookbags filled with school supplies. Please note a child has to be present to receive the bookbags and supplies. Volunteers with Barrelle Roofing and Walton EMC also will be on hand to serve hot dogs, chips and coca-cola products – as long as supplies last.

Felker Park is located at 725 S. Madison Ave. in Monroe.
