Barrelle Roofing in Loganville has awarded its first annual scholarship to a deserving graduate from Walton County. The $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Omar Daniels, a 2019 graduate of George Walton Academy. Daniels plans to attend Georgia Highlands Junior College, majoring in Physical Education.

“I want to coach baseball and Georgia Highlands has a good program for this,” Daniels said.
Daniels said it was his mother who first let him know about the scholarship opportunity being offered by Barrelle Roofing.
“My Mom actually found out about it and encourage me to apply,” he said.
The application from Barrelle Roofing included writing a two-paragraph statement about who the most influential character was in the student’s life.
“I wrote about my grandfather. He taught me much about life, to serve people, and how to live my life helping others – and being respectful,” Daniel said.
“We looked at many different variables to choose our winner. The vote was unanimous and Omar Daniels was our choice,” said Kevin Barrelle, owner of the roofing company.
Daniels said he was very excited to receive this scholarship as it will help with his college expenses.
“I want to thank Barrelle Roofing for choosing me for the scholarship and also my mom for making me do this,” Daniels said.
