Loganville Police Chief Dick Lowry said he was devastated to learn of Brown’s death.

“He taught and inspired my son and made him a Black Belt,” Lowry said, adding that his son, Duncan, is now the chief instructor at Patriot Karate and Martial Arts. Lowry went on to post on social media, “You were and always will be an important part of our lives. Your legacy lives on in the students he teaches today. Praying for peace and comfort for the family. You will be missed Sir.” Duncan is pictured with Brown on the top right in the photo gallery below with some of the trophies he earned when he was a student of Brown’s.

Kristen Henshaw of Fitness Kula, LLC, a fitness expert and friend of Brown for many years, said so many people are still gutted and heartbroken at the loss of a great friend and mentor.

“What a huge loss for our community, and for all the people whose lives he affected for the better. Please keep his fiancé and his boys in your prayers. It’s unimaginable what they’re going through right now. This community has suffered a great loss of a caring, enthusiastic, motivational, and inspiring man,” Henshaw said, going on to write on Brown’s Facebook page, “Mr. Brown…..words cannot express how much you’ll be missed by so very many people. You are a positive light in many people’s lives, and you’re gone far too soon. I’m forever grateful for the impact you made on our lives, especially Andrew.”

Henshaw’s son Andrew, pictured 3rd down on the left below, was a one of Brown’s many young students several years ago. Brown and his troop of karate students from Patriot Karate and Martial Arts have been seen at many fairs and local Walton County Christmas and Independence Day parades.

According to his bio, after graduating from college, Brown went on to embark on his distinguished career in Martial Arts and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He was the founder and former owner of Patriot Karate and Martial Arts and an “incredible martial artist and mentor, earning a 5th degree black belt in American Karate and a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.” He dedicated his life to mastering his craft and sharing his passion with the community, teaching hundreds of students – both children and adults. In 2020, Brown sold his interest in Patriot Karate and Marshal Arts, LLC and went to work for Panel Steel, Inc., where he was employed up until his untimely death earlier this month.

Brown is remembered by so many in the community for his vision and dedication to his art, his students and the community in which he was such an active member. Brown leaves behind a fiancé, Angelica Freyre, and two young teenage sons, Julius and Micah, as well as his heartbroken family and many friends. Since Brown was the primary breadwinner in his immediate family, a Gofundme page was started for his fiancé and children to help with immediate expenses as well as future educational expenses for the boys.

Condolences have continued to pour in on Brown’s Facebook page as people learn of his passing. At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, on the day that would have been Brown’s 40th birthday, his relatives and friends are invited to share in his Celebration of Life at Holy Cross Cathedral, 3836 Oak Road, Loganville. The service will be live streamed. Interment will follow at Hill Haven Memory Garden, 490 Edmondson Road, Monroe.
