NEWTON COUNTY, GA (Aug. 22, 2025) – The Newton County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 16-year-old is in custody after Alcovy High School was placed on locked down Friday morning following an active shooter report.
According to a press release from NCSO, Eastide High School was also referenced during the call. Deputies immediately responded to both locations and confirmed no active threat at either school and the investigation determined that the call was a hoax.
As a precaution, Alcovy High School remained under lockdown during the investigation. A 16-year-old is now in custody in connection with the incident.
