Breaking: 3-year-old recovering from near-drowning in Loganville area Saturday night

Walton County Fire Rescue and Walton County EMS responded to the report of a possible drowning at Logans Bluff south of Loganville at 7:03 pm Saturday, June 29, 2019. WCFR Assistant Chief Craig League said when units arrived, the 3-year old had been found unconscious and unresponsive in a swimming pool at a residence. CPR had been initiated by family at the scene with instruction from the Walton County 911 operator.
“Battalion Chief David Jarrett and EMS Supervisor Bill Jennings were the first emergency personnel to arrive on the scene. They took over rescue CPR and initiated Basic and Advanced Life Support. Upon ambulance arrival, the child was transported to Piedmont Walton,” League said. “The responders were able to get a pulse and a return of respiratory effort from the child while en route to the hospital. After being stabilized at Piedmont Walton the child was then transferred to CHOA- Scottish Rite and admitted to the Pediatric ICU.”
League said at the last update, the child was doing great. All vital signs were in the normal range but she was still being treated for water in her lungs.
