Breaking: 70-year-old dies in motorcycle wreck overnight in Gwinnett County

The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit is investigating an overnight motorcycle fatality accident involving two other vehicles. The wreck happened at about 1 a.m. June 10, 2019, on Singleton Road near Thompson Parkway in the unincorporated Norcross area of Gwinnett County.

Miguel Maldonado-Lemus, 70, of Lilburn, was driving a black motorcycle reportedly attempting to make a right turn onto Singleton Road from a private drive, according to a press release from GCPD. The driver of a grey Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Singleton Road in the left lane when it is believed that the motorcycle turned in front of it, causing them to collide. The driver of the motorcycle was thrown from the motorcycle, landing in the westbound lanes where he was struck by a grey Nissan Sentra that was headed westbound on Singleton Road. Maldonado-Lemus died as a result of his injuries.

No other people were injured. Both drivers of the other cars remained at the scene and all three vehicles have been impounded at GCP headquarters for further analysis.

Maldonado-Lemus next of kin have been notified.
