Breaking: Covington man charged in alleged domestic-related Gwinnett County murder

The Gwinnett County Police Department announced the arrest of Arief McKenzie, 50, of Covington in the alleged domestic-related murder of Jillian Myles-Waters, 36, of Lawrenceville.

According to a press release from GCPD McKenzie and Myles-Waters had a relationship with each other prior to this incident and the motive is domestic-related.  McKenzie has been charged with aggravated assault and felony murder.

Shortly before 6 a.m. this morning, officers from GCPD responded to the home on Herrington Woods Ct. in the  Lawrenceville area of Gwinnett County after a neighbor reported there was a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived to find a deceased woman in the doorway of her home. There were other occupants inside of the residence but nobody else was harmed during this incident.
