Update: One injured in head-on collision on Hwy. 81 Monday morning

Traffic was delay on Highway 81 in front of Sexton Tire Monday morning after a head-on collision closed down the road for a short time.

“It was at 8:38 a.m.,” said Georgia State Patrol Trooper First Class Cal Barton. “A 2000 Chevy Blazer, driven by Timothy Washburn, 30, from Villa Rica was headed north on Highway.  The other car involved was a 2014 Honda Accord driven by Janice Maree, 58, of Gainesville.”

Barton said the Chev Blazer travelled off the road, overcorrected and traveled into the southbound lane striking the Honda Accord head-on. Washburn was not injured, but the driver of the Honda Accord was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center.
