Breaking: GBI arrests a Monroe, Ga. man on child molestation changes

Athens, GA (March 2, 2021) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported that on Monday, March 1, 2021, the agency arrested Obadiah Lindsey, 26, of Monroe, on two counts of child molestation. (Editor’s Note: An arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.)

The GBI reports that on Feb. 22, 2021, the GBI Athens Office was contacted by the GBI Americus Office and notified that information had been discovered during a separate investigation indicating that the suspect had allegedly been having sexual contact with a juvenile in Athens-Clarke County.

“GBI Region 11 initiated an investigation into Lindsey’s conduct and developed probable cause to obtain warrants for Lindsey’s arrest. Agents learned that Lindsey was employed with the grounds and facilities department at the University of Georgia as a maintenance worker. The UGA Police Department assisted with locating and arresting Lindsey without incident,” the GBI reported in a press release.

This is still an active investigation and the GBI is asking anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact the agency at (706) 552-2309.
