WALTON COUNTY: (Oct. 30, 2025) A 7-month-old infant alleged kidnapped infant was rescued following a vehicle chase and rollover crash in Walton County on Tuesday.
According to Georgia State Patrol Post 46 Assistant Commander, Christoph Ayers, at about 9:40 p.m. on Oct. 28, GSP Trooper William Cowan was requested by Walton County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a vehicle pursuit involving a kidnapped seven-month-old.
“As Tpr. Cowan caught up to the pursuit Walton County requested him to take primary. Tpr. Cowan became primary on Georgia 138 near HD Atha Road. The violator continued to flee and sideswiped a Walton County deputies’ patrol vehicle, then turned onto HD Atha Road,” Ayers reported. “Tpr. Cowan attempted to drive in front of the violators’ vehicle in attempt to slow him down. The violator struck the rear of Tpr. Cowan’s patrol vehicle with front of his vehicle. After impact with Tpr. Cowan’s patrol vehicle, the violator continued to flee on HD Atha Road. A Walton County deputy attempted PIT but it was unsuccessful. The violator continued to flee on HD Atha Road where he failed to negotiate a cure and drove off the north shoulder of the roadway. After driving off the roadway the violators’ vehicle flipped and landed on its roof.”
Ayers said the juvenile was found to be properly restrained and did not suffer major injuries. The violator was arrested and charged accordingly.
